Laying new laminate wood flooring over your existing vinyl flooring is a relatively inexpensive way to add value, durability and good looks to any room in your home. Installing laminate wood flooring is much easier to do than other types of flooring, because the wood laminate planks lock together, much like a puzzle, without the need for nails or glue. With the right tools and materials, you can update any average-sized room in your home with beautiful laminate wood flooring in just one day.
CARB Regulation :
The Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) to control formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products drafted by California Air Resource Board (CARB)
was approved on April 18, 2008 by the office of administrative law. The
first emission standards will be effective on January 1, 2009.
The new CARB regulation affects everyone in the supply chain from retailers and importers to fabricators, manufacturers and distributors. The ATCM rule specifically focuses on three types of composite wood products: hardwood plywood (HWPW), particleboard (PB), and medium density fiberboard (MDF). It impacts commonly used products containing formaldehyde resins, such as furniture, flooring, crown molding, window sashes and wall paneling.
The ATCM establishes implementation of formaldehyde emission standards in two phases. Phase 1 will be effective on January 1, 2009 and Phase 2 will be 2010 – 2012. The emissions are measured by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) test E 1333-96, for HWPW with a veneer core (HWPW-VC) and with a composite core (HWPW-CC), PB, MDF, and thin MDF. All standards are "caps", meaning that they cannot be exceeded. Complying materials must be used in finished goods made with those materials.
SGS has CARB approved labs in Hong Kong and Guangzhou to be third party certifier for formaldehyde.
SGS can provide advanced testing services on composite wood products but also audit and training services for CARB compliance. By completing the form below, one of our representatives will contact you directly to discuss your needs.
